Board Appointment - Governor Erik Thedéen

Dr. Stefan Ingves, Board Chair, and Babak Abbaszadeh, CEO, Toronto Centre for Global Leadership in Financial Supervision, are pleased to announce the appointment of Governor of the Riksbank Erik Thedéen to the board of directors.

Governor Thedéen has served as the Governor and Chairman of the Executive Board of Sveriges Riksbank (Central Bank of Sweden) since Jan. 1, 2023. He also holds the positions of Member of the Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements and Member of the General Council of the European Central Bank, and Member of the General Board of the European Systemic Risk Board. Governor Thedéen is also the Governor for Sweden of the IMF and Member of the Nordic-Baltic Macroprudential Forum. Before taking up the position of Governor of Sveriges Riksbank, Governor Thedéen was Director General of the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen). During his time at Finansinspektionen, he was also a Member of the Board of the International Organization of Securities Commissions, where he was appointed Chair of its Task Force on Sustainable Finance, as well as Vice Chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority.

Governor Thedéen has also held various positions in the private and public sectors, including CEO of KPA Pension, State Secretary at the Swedish Ministry of Finance, President of the Stockholm Stock Exchange (Nasdaq OMX Stockholm), and Deputy Director General of the Swedish National Debt Office.
