Congratulating the Graduating Class of Our Fourth Leadership Program for Women Supervisors and Regulators

Toronto Centre is proud to introduce and congratulate the fourth graduating class of the Leadership Program for Women Supervisors and Regulators comprised of 16 women leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa.

Distinguished women leaders, Dr. Grace Muradzikwa, Commissioner of the Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC) of Zimbabwe and Ms. Elsie Addo Awadzi, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Ghana, shared their leadership experiences and journey with the graduates.

Mr. Stefan Invges, Chair of Toronto Centre’s Board of Directors, shared his valuable leadership insights from his career spanning across several decades during which he has held very senior roles and led organisations through crisis, change, and transformation in Sweden, Europe, and globally. Stefan’s leadership experience across the world, with diverse cultures was priceless for this class.

In line with its mission of delivering high-quality capacity building programs for supervisors and regulators, Toronto Centre designed this program to help current and aspiring women leaders become more effective in their roles and feel more empowered. The program enables them to better understand that their experience, skills, and perspectives are valuable to the success and effectiveness of their supervisory and regulatory agencies.

The program specifically links the classroom to the world of women financial supervisors and regulators and the challenges they encounter in building stable and inclusive financial systems. It introduces the participants to new leadership practices and strategies through dialogue and practical exercises. The program also provides them with the opportunity to practice the implications of their new learnings within the reality and context of working in a supervisory authority.

Professional leadership development is a lifelong journey that requires significant attention and commitment from both the individuals and their organization. Toronto Centre has established a thriving alumni network of women supervisors which provides them an opportunity to support each other and share their experiences, concerns, and challenges.

Later in 2023, Toronto Centre will launch the second level of the Women Leadership Program. It will aim to support and develop women leaders in becoming more effective change leaders, and to enable them to address current and anticipated challenges in initiating and leading change within and by financial supervisory agencies.

This program is designed in line with the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and in particular SDG 5, Achieve Gender Equality and Empower All Women and Girls.

Toronto Centre has been offering this coveted program annually since its launch in 2020.
