Program Description

Financial crime is harmful to a country's economy and social well-being. It erodes public trust in financial institutions, hinders economic growth, and can lead to financial loss.

This virtual, five-half day, cross-sectoral program is designed to enhance financial supervisors’ understanding of financial crime risk and international good practices to combat them. It goes beyond theoretical concepts and provides practical approaches to combatting financial crime, adoption of risk-based supervision, and effective supervisory intervention.

At the end of the program, participants will be able to examine the components of financial crime that have supervisory impact on different risk areas and how supervisors can effectively combat financial crime.

METHODOLOGY

This course will be taught by Toronto Centre program leaders who have a wealth of highly relevant experience to share with participants in order to help them carry out their work in line with international best practices and to address challenges that they may encounter in their supervisory and regulatory work.

The Toronto Centre uses a highly interactive teaching approach using case studies, lectures, and exercises and participants must work in table groups on group activities on issues raised in the case studies and lectures.

More details on the presenters will be provided at a later date. Please access more information about the CFS designation here.

QUIZZES AND EXAMS

Quizzes and an examination will be administered during the program. Daily multiple-choice quizzes test theoretical knowledge, while a final exam tests practical applications of the program content. Participants must pass the quiz and final exam in order to proceed in obtaining the CFS.
