A Two-Week Course in Financial Regulation and Supervision

The program aims to provide a comprehensive core curriculum covering the fundamental principles and best practices of regulation and supervision. The course will address supervisory issues faced by supervisors of the banking, insurance, pensions and securities industries, and will maintain Toronto Centre’s interactive approach to learning through the extensive use of group activities and case studies.

·         Risk-based supervision

·         Credit risk supervision

·         Insurance risk supervision

·         Operation risk supervision

·         Conduct risk supervision

·         Corporate governance

·         Internal controls

·         Anti-money laundering and countering terrorist financing

·         Licensing and authorization

·         Regulatory capital

·         Macroprudential surveillance

·         Consolidated and conglomerate supervision

·         Cross-border supervisory cooperation

·         Problem institutions, recovery planning and resolution



This course will be taught by Toronto Centre program directors and program leaders who have a wealth of highly relevant experience to share with participants in order to help them carry out their work in line with international best practices and to address challenges that they may encounter in their supervisory and regulatory work.

Who Should Attend?

The program is designed for mid- to senior-level staff and managers involved in regulatory and supervisory activities. Participants should have at least three years of working experience in financial sector supervision, analysis, or policy.
