This webinar will focus on FinTech, one of the most pressing issues facing policy makers, financial regulators and supervisors today. Our speakers will address how technological innovations can build more inclusive financial systems and why this matters for regulators and supervisors. They will also discuss the promises and challenges that FinTech presents. 


Christopher L. Wilson

Chris Wilson is a senior financial sector expert in the Monetary and Capital Markets Department (MCM) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Before joining the IMF, he was a senior manager at the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA). He is an expert on FinTech with banking supervision and regulation background and a member of the MCM working group on finance and technology.

Robin J. Lewis

Robin Lewis is a research analyst and associate fellow with the Center for Technology Innovation in the Governance Studies program at the Brookings Institution. Her current research explores the intersection of inclusive finance, technological innovation, and the mobile economy. She is also a co­author of the 2015 Brookings Financial and Digital Inclusion Project Report.

They will address:

  • Impacts of FinTech on the financial services landscape
  • The regulatory and supervisory issues associated with FinTech 
  • The components of financial inclusion and why it matters
  • Some regional findings and examples as well as ways that FinTech can drive financial inclusion
