This webinar will focus on one of the most pressing issues facing policymakers, regulators and supervisors today: climate risk. Speakers will address the roles that governments, financial institutions and financial regulators and supervisors can play in identifying and addressing climate risk and developmental opportunities that this global phenomenon presents.

Stefan Ingves took up the post of Governor of Sveriges Riksbank (Central Bank of Sweden) and Chairman of the Executive Board on 1 January 2006, and is currently serving his second six-year term in the position. In 2011, Mr. Ingves became the Chairman of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. He has also been a member of Toronto Centre's Board of Directors since 2000.

Adele Morris
Adele Morris

Adele Morris is a senior fellow and policy director for Climate and Energy Economics at the Brookings Institution. Her expertise and interests include the economics of policies related to climate change, energy, natural resources, and public finance.

They will address:

  • What are the channels through which climate risk can affect financial stability?
  • What is the linkage between climate risk and prudential regulation?
  • What are the policy implications for public/and private finance of climate risk?
  • What should be governments’ role and what options are at their disposal?
