Message from CEO

Dear friends, colleagues, and TC Associates,

2018 is shaping up to be another productive year. We have already delivered 25 capacity building programs in 14 different countries, two of which were our international programs held in Toronto. We were very pleased to welcome participants to our 3rd annual Core Curriculum Certificate Program in May and to our flagship International Banking Program in June.

We received excellent feedback about our new technology risk program in April. If you are interested in learning more about it, please contact our Senior Program Director, Phang Hong Lim (plim@torontocentre.org).

As we head into the summer months, we are looking forward to hosting participants in Toronto for our flagship International Programs for Securities Regulators and Insurance and Pension Regulators. Registration is open for our flagship International Program on Crisis Preparedness and Resolution Options in Stockholm, Sweden this September. Space is limited so please register early to avoid disappointment.

We are also excited to be presenting for the first time at the Boulder Microfinance Training (MFT) program, in collaboration with our long-time partner CGAP, which will be held in Turin, Italy in July. We also look forward to continuing our long standing relationship with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). This will be the 12th year we will be offering a Regional Leadership Program for Securities Regulators with MAS. See below for more details!

Our 20th Anniversary celebrations continue: our anniversary video is now available in English, Spanish, and French! Watch our TC20 video in the language of your preference.

TC Notes - Newly Added!

Supervisory technology (SupTech) relies on technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, big data analytics, and blockchain to improve data and data analytics, and automate/digitize supervisory processes and tools. In doing so, SupTech could help supervisors achieve more effective risk-based supervision, including dealing with a fast-changing financial landscape.

This TC Note explores how SupTech can help supervisors meet common challenges, gives examples of current and emerging uses of SupTech, and highlights the challenges and risks of embracing SupTech.
