In 2001, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) created the International Advisory Group (IAG) to assist selected emerging market economies in enhancing their supervisory systems.

Doha, Qatar, March 21, 2010: Financial supervisory and regulatory leaders from Qatar and the wider MENA region have completed an intensive exercise in Financial and Regulatory Leadership, organised by the QFC Regulatory Authority in collaboration with the Qatar Financial and Business Academy (QFBA) and the Toronto Centre.
We are midway through our most productive year ever - on track to present at least 22 programs in 19 countries on 4 continents. Almost all have been influenced in some way by the need to respond to the global financial crisis. Some programs are completely new, including several that are specifically crisis-oriented and address such issues as crisis preparation and simulations. Another tackles the increasingly topical subject of risk-based supervision and is built around the OSFI model which has performed so well in the financial crisis.
